The attractive and historic route takes in some of Pretoria’s most beautiful landmarks and is a popular, undulating and scenic race which also incorporates a nature reserve. The race is and official qualifier for the Comrades and Two Oceans races.

The race route presents its greatest challenge in the first half up the hilly climbs of Waterkloof Ridge on the way to Klapperkop Hill. The pull starts near the 2km mark and goes on relentlessly for about 4km. The work put in here is well worth it as you are rewarded with breath-taking views of the city of Pretoria. Taking in the surroundings and the mountain. These kilometers downhill through Pretoria High School for boys is accompanied by the strident sound of the Boys High Pipe band (established in 1971). After passing through the beautiful school grounds, you are on your way to the home stretch and a not too difficult 2km to the finish.

Passing through the Pretoria Boys’, designed by Sir Herbert Baker and a national monument is one of the highlights of the race. The 42.2 and the 21.1 km usually starts at 6:00 am with the10 km run or walk starting 20 minutes later.
